Cosmic Event: Antardhāna (divine withdrawal) as a narrative marker of concealed guidance
The verse highlights karuṇā (divine compassion) as a purifying force: when grace is received, matsara (envy) dissolves, and the heart naturally rests in pramoda (spiritual joy), a key disposition for Shaiva devotion and liberation.
Linga/Saguna worship in the Shiva Purana emphasizes inner cleansing alongside outer rites; this verse points to the essential inner offering—giving up envy—so devotion becomes pure and receptive to Shiva’s and the devas’ compassionate guidance.
A practical takeaway is to pair japa (especially “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a vow of amātsarya (non-envy), offering jealousy into the inner fire of awareness; this aligns with Shaiva purification often supported by bhasma-dhāraṇa and disciplined devotion.
