विलोक्य रुद्रभागं नो प्राप्यावज्ञां च ताततः । विनिंद्य तत्र तान्सर्वान्देहत्यागमथाकरोत्
vilokya rudrabhāgaṃ no prāpyāvajñāṃ ca tātataḥ | viniṃdya tatra tānsarvāndehatyāgamathākarot
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Rudra
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
The verse highlights that any ritual (yajña) becomes hollow when it excludes or dishonors Shiva (Pati), the inner Lord of all worship; Satī’s response underscores uncompromising devotion and the principle that dharma cannot coexist with contempt toward the Divine.
Rudra’s ‘share’ signifies Shiva’s rightful place as the indwelling recipient of all offerings; honoring Saguna Shiva through Linga-worship is portrayed as essential, while rejecting Shiva in a sacrificial setting is shown to invert the purpose of worship.
The takeaway is to perform worship without disrespect: begin with Shiva-smarana and Panchākṣarī japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and maintain purity of intention; avoid ego-driven ritualism that forgets the Lord who sanctifies the act.
