Departure and Lament in Separation
समाप्तोऽयं तृतीयः पार्वतीखण्डः
samāpto'yaṃ tṛtīyaḥ pārvatīkhaṇḍaḥ
ดังนี้ ‘ปารวตีขันฑะ’ ภาคที่สามในรุดรสํหิตา จึงสิ้นสุดลง
Sūta Gosvāmin
It functions as a formal saṃāpti (closure), marking the completion of a sacred unit of narration; in Shaiva tradition, such endings affirm the wholeness (pūrṇatā) of the teaching and invite the listener to retain the bhakti and siddhānta conveyed through the Shiva–Pārvatī narrative.
While the verse itself is a colophon, it closes the Pārvatīkhaṇḍa portion of the Rudra Saṃhitā, whose broader arc supports Saguna upāsanā—devotion to Shiva with attributes—often expressed through liṅga-pūjā and reverence to Śiva-Śakti as the complete divine reality.
As a concluding marker, it implies a traditional practice of ending recitation with śānti-pāṭha, offering mental salutations to Shiva and Śakti, and resuming steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as the takeaway discipline.
