Lord Shiva (in instruction within the Pārvatīkhaṇḍa narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; the verse frames gṛhastha-dharma as the enabling condition for deva–pitṛ–atithi-yajñas and thus for dharmic continuity.
Significance: Highlights household life as a legitimate Śaiva path where daily duties become supports for purity and eventual liberation when offered to Śiva.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It affirms the Shaiva view that dharma is a support for spiritual ascent: the gṛhastha life, stabilized by the wife, enables right worship, service, and merit that mature into purity and readiness for Shiva’s grace.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva devotion are traditionally embedded in daily dharmic duties; the verse highlights the household framework through which regular pūjā, hospitality, and ancestral offerings are properly sustained.
It points to steady nitya-karmas—deva-pūjā, pitṛ-tarpaṇa, and atithi-sevā—performed with Shiva-bhakti; these may be accompanied by Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) as the inner discipline.
