Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Type: gayatri
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It teaches sensory restraint and one-pointedness: after purification by bathing, the gaze and mind are to be disciplined, directed toward the rightful object (the husband as dharmic focus) and ultimately toward the inner Lord (Pati) through meditation.
The verse models Saguna-upāsanā through a concrete support for attention: by holding the ‘pati’ in mind and fixing the gaze, the devotee learns steadiness (ekāgratā), which is the same mental discipline used in Linga-darśana and Shiva-pūjā.
A simple discipline is given: bathe (outer purification), then practice guarded vision and mental dhyāna—contemplating the chosen object within and using a visible support like the Sun for steady attention.
