पत्युर्नाम न गृह्णीयात् कदाचन पतिव्रता । आक्रुष्टापि न चाक्रोशेत्प्रसीदेत्ताडितापि च । हन्यतामिति च ब्रूयात्स्वामिन्निति कृपां कुरु

patyurnāma na gṛhṇīyāt kadācana pativratā | ākruṣṭāpi na cākrośetprasīdettāḍitāpi ca | hanyatāmiti ca brūyātsvāminniti kṛpāṃ kuru

ภรรยาผู้ถือพรตต่อสามีไม่พึงเอ่ยนามสามีด้วยความหมิ่นประมาท. แม้ถูกด่าก็ไม่ด่าตอบ; แม้ถูกตี ก็ยังอ่อนโยนเพื่อให้สงบ. แม้เขาจะว่า “จงฆ่านางเสีย” นางก็ยังวิงวอนว่า “ข้าแต่สวามี โปรดเมตตาเถิด”
