Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya, describing the sage’s reaction within the Parvati Khanda narrative)
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Meditation on the ‘vedikā’ and cosmic order evokes temple-as-microcosm; wonder (vismaya) becomes a doorway from sensory grandeur to inner reverence.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
The verse highlights how sacred architecture and ritual space (the vedikā) can awaken reverent wonder, turning the mind from ordinary perception toward the recognition of Shiva’s divine order (śiva-tattva) manifest in form.
A richly constructed vedikā and many pillars imply an arranged, visible support for worship—an outer form that steadies the devotee’s attention, aligning with Saguna-oriented devotion that culminates in inner contemplation of Shiva beyond form.
The takeaway is mindful darśana: approach the worship-space with purified attention, offer mental reverence, and steady the mind with mantra-japa (such as the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while contemplating the sanctity of the altar.
