Sūta Gosvāmin (traditional Purāṇic colophon style concluding the chapter narration to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Sthala Purana: Colophon (iti…): a textual closure marker, not a narrative unit tied to a shrine-origin account.
Significance: Liturgical/recitational significance: signals completion of a chapter for pāraṇa/paṭhana; encourages orderly śravaṇa in a satsaṅga setting.
This is a concluding colophon that sanctifies and authenticates the narrative transmission: it marks the completion of a chapter within the Rudra Saṃhitā, preserving the textual lineage through which Śiva’s teachings and līlās are received and contemplated for dharma and liberation.
Though it is not a direct instruction on Liṅga-pūjā, it situates the reader within the Pārvatī-khaṇḍa of the Rudra Saṃhitā—where Saguna Śiva narratives (Śiva with attributes, family, and divine acts) commonly provide the devotional framework that supports Liṅga worship and bhakti.
No specific rite is prescribed in this colophon; the practical takeaway is svādhyāya (devotional study) and remembrance—reciting and reflecting on the chapter’s theme (the Saptarṣis’ arrival) as part of regular Śiva Purāṇa pāṭha, often accompanied by mental japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
