Suta Goswami (narrative colophon concluding the chapter as recited to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Sthala Purana: Colophon only; it situates the narrative within the Pārvatīkhaṇḍa and names the episode of the Saptarṣi test.
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter, affirming the scripture’s traditional hierarchy (Samhitā–Khaṇḍa–Adhyāya) and sealing the teaching as an authoritative unit of śravaṇa (sacred listening), which Shaiva tradition treats as spiritually purifying.
Though it contains no direct ritual instruction, it frames the preceding narrative within the Rudra Saṃhitā and Pārvatī-khaṇḍa—sections that emphasize Saguna Shiva’s accessible grace through divine līlā, devotion, and dharma, which are foundational to Linga-centered worship and bhakti.
As a chapter-ending marker, it chiefly suggests the practice of reverent recitation/listening (pāraayaṇa and śravaṇa) of the Shiva Purana; devotees often conclude such readings with remembrance of Shiva’s name (e.g., the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a brief prayer of dedication.
