Pārvatī’s Austerity and Counsel from Himālaya and Others
mahādevaṃ prārthayāmo girijāprāpaṇāya tam | pāṇigrahārthamadhunā lokānāṃ svastaye'marāḥ
The Devas (Amarāḥ), collectively praying to Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Significance: Positions Śiva-Śakti vivāha as lokasaṃgraha (world-welfare): the cosmic order is stabilized when Śiva accepts Girijā, enabling auspiciousness across worlds.
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Parvati
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
The verse presents Śiva and Pārvatī’s union as a cosmic act that restores auspicious order (svasti) for all worlds, showing that devotion to Pati (Śiva) brings harmony to pashu (souls) and the cosmos.
The Devas approach Mahādeva in a personal (saguṇa) mode—praying to Him as the gracious Lord who responds to supplication—mirroring how devotees worship Śiva through the Liṅga as the accessible, compassionate form of the Supreme.
The takeaway is prayerful bhakti for loka-kalyāṇa (universal welfare): worship Śiva with the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering water and bilva leaves to the Liṅga with the intention of peace and auspiciousness for all.
