प्रकृतितत्त्व-विचारः / Inquiry into Prakṛti (Nature/Śakti) and Śiva’s Transcendence
कस्त्वं का प्रकृतिस्सूक्ष्मा भगवंस्तद्विमृश्यताम् । विना प्रकृत्या च कथं लिंगरूपी महेश्वरः
kastvaṃ kā prakṛtissūkṣmā bhagavaṃstadvimṛśyatām | vinā prakṛtyā ca kathaṃ liṃgarūpī maheśvaraḥ
พระองค์คือผู้ใด? และปรกฤติอันละเอียดนั้นคืออะไร? ข้าแต่พระภควาน โปรดพิจารณาให้ถ่องแท้เถิด และหากปราศจากปรกฤติแล้ว พระมหาเทวะ—พระมหेशวร—จะทรงมีรูปเป็นลิงคะได้อย่างไร?

Pārvatī’s question points to a core Shaiva Siddhānta insight: Śiva (Pati) is transcendent beyond Prakṛti (the field of guṇas), yet out of grace He becomes knowable through a sacred, worship-worthy manifestation—the Liṅga—so the bound soul (paśu) can approach liberation.
The verse highlights the theological bridge: although the Supreme is beyond material Nature, devotees worship the Liṅga as Śiva’s compassionate, accessible form (saguṇa upāsanā) that leads the mind toward His formless, supreme reality (nirguṇa).
Contemplate the Liṅga as Śiva’s presence beyond the guṇas while performing simple liṅga-pūjā—offering water and bilva leaves and repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as a meditation on Śiva’s transcendence and grace.
