It highlights the Shaiva ethic of seva (devoted service): powerful beings offer their best (even their own offspring/strength) in support of a divine purpose connected with Kumāra, reflecting dedication aligned with Pati (Śiva) and dharma.
Though not directly about Liṅga-ritual, the verse supports Saguna devotion in the Shiva Purana: devotees and divine attendants actively participate in Śiva’s cosmic work, which is also honored through Liṅga worship as the visible focus of allegiance to Śiva.
The practical takeaway is offering one’s strength and resources to Śiva with disciplined intent—expressed as daily Panchākṣarī japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and a simple act of offering (water/bhasma) with the resolve to serve dharma.
