Description of Kumāra’s Abhiṣeka
Consecration/Installation
ahaṃ viṣṇuśca śakraśca tathā devādayo'khilāḥ | daṇḍavatpatitā bhūmau parivāryya kumārakam
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Kumāra-khaṇḍa account to the sages)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
It highlights humility as a mark of true divinity: even the highest devas bow down when confronted with Shiva’s manifested power and grace in the form of the Kumāra, teaching surrender (śaraṇāgati) as the gateway to auspiciousness.
Kumāra is revered as a manifestation within Shiva’s sacred sphere (Shiva’s family and śakti-vibhūti). Honoring such manifestations supports Saguna Shiva-bhakti and reinforces that all cosmic authorities ultimately submit to Shiva’s supreme lordship (Pati).
The verse directly suggests daṇḍavat praṇāma (full prostration) as a devotional act—performed with Shiva-smaraṇa (remembrance of Shiva), ideally alongside mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”).
