Episode on the Origin of Gaṇeśa (Śvetakalpa Account)
tataśśivaśca saṃkruddho gaṇānājñāpayannijān | ko vāyaṃ vartate kiṃca kriyate paśyatāṃ gaṇāḥ
Suta Goswami (narrating the episode, quoting Lord Shiva’s command to the Gaṇas)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
It shows Śiva as Pati—the sovereign Lord who safeguards cosmic order—directing His Gaṇas to investigate wrongdoing, teaching devotees alertness and obedience to dharma under divine guidance.
The verse highlights Saguna Śiva—personal, responsive, and protective—whom devotees approach through Linga-worship, trusting that the Lord actively oversees and corrects disorder in His līlā.
A practical takeaway is disciplined vigilance in sādhana: begin worship with mental inquiry and steadiness, then offer japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while maintaining watchfulness against distractions and adharma.
