It highlights Śiva-smaraṇa (remembering Śiva) joined with dharmic action: the pativratā’s swift movement toward the Gaṅgā shows that devotion is not only sentiment but an active turning of life toward sacred presence, where grace and purification are sought.
Remembering Śiva while proceeding to the Gaṅgā reflects Saguna-bhakti—holding the Lord in mind as a personal, compassionate refuge. In Jyotirliṅga contexts, such remembrance naturally culminates in liṅga-darśana and worship at a tīrtha, where Śiva is approached through form and sacred place.
A simple takeaway is nāma-smaraṇa or mantra-japa while traveling—especially the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—and, upon reaching the Gaṅgā, performing tīrtha-snān (ritual bath) with Śiva in the heart before worship.
