रावणस्य तपः-शिवानुग्रहः — Rāvaṇa’s Austerity and Śiva’s Bestowal of Grace
प्रत्यक्षं तं तदा दृष्ट्वा प्रतिष्ठाप्य च ते सुराः । वैद्यनाथेति संप्रोच्य नत्वा नुत्वा दिवं ययुः
pratyakṣaṃ taṃ tadā dṛṣṭvā pratiṣṭhāpya ca te surāḥ | vaidyanātheti saṃprocya natvā nutvā divaṃ yayuḥ

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Jyotirlinga: Vaidyanātha
Sthala Purana: Devas directly behold Śiva manifest and establish (pratiṣṭhā) the Liṅga on the spot, proclaiming the name “Vaidyanātha,” thereby fixing the site as a Jyotirliṅga-kṣetra.
Significance: Darśana and worship of the Jyotirliṅga famed as the ‘Lord as Divine Physician’—bestowing roga-śānti, pāpa-kṣaya, and śiva-anugraha through direct contact with the manifested Liṅga.
Type: stotra
It teaches that when Śiva becomes pratyakṣa (directly manifest), devotees respond through liṅga-pratiṣṭhā, nāma-kīrtana (proclaiming His sacred name), and stuti—showing that grace culminates in worship and recognition of Śiva as the supreme healer and liberator.
The gods “establish” Śiva, indicating Saguna upāsanā through the liṅga as an accessible form. Naming Him “Vaidyanātha” frames the liṅga as Śiva’s compassionate presence that removes the soul’s bondage (pāśa) and restores spiritual wholeness.
It points to liṅga-pratiṣṭhā and stuti: bowing (namaskāra), praising (stotra), and repeating Śiva’s name—especially invoking “Vaidyanātha” with steady bhakti, ideally alongside mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya).
