เมื่อชำระตนและเครื่องบูชา เช่น จันทน์หอม ดอกไม้ เป็นต้นให้บริสุทธิ์แล้ว พึงทำปราณายามสามประการ จากนั้นจึงประกอบพิธีเบื้องต้นเริ่มด้วยฤๅษิ-นยาสและกรรมที่เกี่ยวเนื่อง।
