The Determination of Śiva as the Meaning of Praṇava
prāpnutāmiti samprocya bhavantāviti saṃvadet | vadetāṃ prāpnuyāveti tau ca brāhmaṇapuṃgavau
Suta Goswami (narrating proper forms of respectful address within the Kailasa Samhita discourse)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Mantra: prāpnutām … prāpnuyāva
It teaches śuddha-vāk (purity of speech) and reverential conduct toward the spiritually learned, showing that dharmic etiquette supports inner purification—an aid to approaching Pati (Śiva) with humility.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is upheld by right conduct (ācāra) alongside ritual; respectful speech and mutual blessings cultivate devotion (bhakti) and the sattvic disposition needed for Saguna Śiva-upāsanā.
Practice mindful, non-harsh speech and begin sacred interactions (darśana, pūjā, guru-vandana) with blessings and humility; this complements mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) even when not explicitly mentioned.
