Sukta 8.22
दशस्यन्ता मनवे पूर्व्यं दिवि यवं वृकेण कर्षथः । ता वामद्य सुमतिभिः शुभस्पती अश्विना प्र स्तुवीमहि ॥
daśasyántā mánave pū́rvyaṃ diví yávam vṛ́keṇa karṣathaḥ | tā́ vām adyá sumatíbhīḥ śubhaspatī aśvínā prá stuvīmahi ||
เพื่อถวายเกียรติแก่มนุ ท่านทั้งสองได้ไถคราดในสวรรค์ด้วยคันไถ (vṛka) แล้วดึงเอาข้าวบาร์เลย์ดึกดำบรรพ์ออกมา. เพราะฉะนั้น วันนี้ ด้วยพระกรุณาอันมีปัญญาเที่ยงตรง ข้าแต่เจ้าแห่งรัศมีอันรุ่งเรือง ข้าแต่พระอัศวิน เราทั้งหลายขอสรรเสริญยกท่านขึ้น—เพื่อให้โภชนะแรกเริ่มนั้นบังเกิดในเรา.
