शीरं पावकशोचिषं ज्येष्ठो यो दमेष्वा । दीदाय दीर्घश्रुत्तमः ॥

ผู้รวดเร็ว ผู้ส่องประกายด้วยเปลวเพลิงอันชำระให้บริสุทธิ์ ผู้เป็นผู้ใหญ่ที่สุดในเรือนทั้งหลาย—พระองค์ทอประกายเจิดจ้า; อัคนี (Agni) ผู้เป็นเสียงที่ได้ยินไกลที่สุด กังวานยืนนานที่สุด.
