Indrajit’s Illusory Sita Episode and Hanuman’s Rebuke
तांनिरीक्ष्यमुहूर्तंतुमैथिलीत्यध्यवस्यतु ।बभूवाचिरदृष्टाहितेनसाजनकात्मजा ।।।।
tāṃ nirīkṣya muhūrtaṃ tu maithilīti adhyavasyatu | babhūvā ciradṛṣṭā hi tena sā janakātmajā ||
ครั้นเพ่งดูนางอยู่ชั่วครู่ เขาจึงแน่ใจว่า “นางคือไมถิลี” เพราะธิดาแห่งพระชนกนั้น เขาเพิ่งได้เห็นมาไม่นานนี้เอง
He looked at her for a moment and recognised her as Janaka's daughter since he had seen her not long before.
Discernment (viveka) is essential to dharma: one must perceive clearly before acting, especially amid deception and emotional turmoil.
A witness (contextually, Hanumān) looks carefully at the woman displayed in the chariot and recognizes her as Sītā.
