The Awakening of Kumbhakarna
तस्यनिःश्वासवातेनकुम्भकर्णस्यरक्षसः ।राक्षसाबलवन्तोऽपिस्थातुनाशक्नुवन्पुरः ।।।।
tasya niḥśvāsa-vātena kumbhakarṇasya rakṣasaḥ | rākṣasā balavanto 'pi sthātuṃ nāśaknuvan puraḥ ||
ด้วยลมพัดจากลมหายใจของคุมภกรรณะผู้เป็นรากษสนั้น แม้เหล่ารากษสผู้มีกำลังยิ่งก็ยังยืนต้านอยู่ต่อหน้าเขามิได้
Unable to bear the force of the breathing out of Kumbhakarna, the Rakshasas could not stand.
The verse teaches humility before overwhelming force and the limits of mere physical strength—an ethical reminder that true steadiness (dharma) is not only bodily power but inner restraint and right purpose.
As Kumbhakarṇa begins to stir, his breath itself blows so strongly that nearby rākṣasas cannot remain standing before him.
Kumbhakarṇa’s colossal might (presented as an almost elemental force).
