The Fierce Chariot-Duel of Rama and Ravana
तान् दृष्टवारावणश्चक्रेस्वशरैःखंनिरन्तरम् ।।6.109.23।।ततस्थाभ्यांप्रमुक्तेनशरवर्षेणभास्वता ।शरबद्धमिवाभातिद्वितीयंभास्वदम्भरम् ।।6.109.24।।
tatasthābhyāṃ pramuktena śaravarṣeṇa bhāsvatā |
śarabaddham ivābhāti dvitīyaṃ bhāsvad ambharam ||6.109.24||
จากทั้งสองฝ่ายนั้น มีสายฝนแห่งศรอันสุกสว่างพุ่งพรั่งพรู; ท้องฟ้าอันเรืองรองดูประหนึ่งถูกถักทอเป็นตาข่ายด้วยศร—ดุจมีนภาอันสว่างไสวอีกชั้นหนึ่ง
Seeing the arrows in the sky released by Rama, even Ravana released arrows up to the sky. With the arrows released by both of them, the space became resplendent and by the network of arrows covering it seemed like another sky.
Dharma is implied through rightful contest: even overwhelming power must remain within the bounds of ordered combat, not chaos against the helpless.
Both heroes release such a dense volley that the sky itself seems transformed into a bright lattice of arrows.
Heroic capacity (vīrya) and skill—martial excellence expressed through controlled, effective archery.
