Rama’s Defense of Truth and Dharma in Reply to Jabali
अमृष्यमाणः पुनरुग्रतेजाः निशम्य तं नास्तिकवाक्यहेतुम्।अथाब्रवीत्तं नृपतेस्तनूजो विगर्हमाणो वचनानि तस्य।।2.109.30।।
amṛṣyamāṇaḥ punar ugra-tejāḥ niśamya taṃ nāstika-vākya-hetum |
athābravīt taṃ nṛpates tanūjo vigarhamāṇo vacanāni tasya || 2.109.30 ||
ครั้นเจ้าชายผู้มีเดชอันดุจไฟและรัศมีรุ่งเรือง ได้สดับเหตุผลที่แฝงด้วยถ้อยคำของผู้ปฏิเสธธรรม ก็ทนมิได้; แล้วราชบุตรจึงกล่าววาจา ตำหนิถ้อยคำนั้นโดยตรง
The highly energetic prince, Rama, could not tolerate these atheistic arguments ofJabali for which he had to utter these words full of disdain:
Dharma includes moral intolerance toward counsel that undermines righteousness; one should not calmly accept arguments that erode truth and duty.
