Lakshmana’s Counsel to the Enraged Rama

सरितस्सागराश्शैला देवगन्धर्वदानवाः।।।।नालं ते विप्रियं कर्तुं दीक्षितस्येव साधवः।

saritaḥ sāgarāḥ śailā deva-gandharva-dānavāḥ |

nālaṃ te vipriyaṃ kartuṃ dīkṣitasy eva sādhavaḥ ||

แม่น้ำทั้งหลาย มหาสมุทร และขุนเขา—เหล่าเทวดา คนธรรพ์ แม้กระทั่งทานวะ—ก็ไม่อาจทำสิ่งอันเป็นที่ระคายแก่พระองค์ได้ ดุจคนดีทั้งหลายไม่กระทำความเป็นปฏิปักษ์ต่อผู้ทรงพรตผู้รับดิษฐาแล้ว

Just as pious men do not do anything disagreeable towards persons who observe religious vows, so also rivers, seas and mountains, gods, gandharvas and demons are not capable of causing unhappiness to you.
