The Search for Sītā at the Godāvarī
नाकाशमुत्पतिष्यन्ति सर्वभूतानि लक्ष्मण।मम चापगुणोन्मुक्तैर्बाणजालैर्निरन्तरम्।।।।
nākāśam utpatiṣyanti sarvabhūtāni lakṣmaṇa |
mama cāpaguṇonmuktair bāṇajālair nirantaram |
โอ้ลักษมณะ สรรพสัตว์ทั้งปวงจักไม่อาจเหินขึ้นสู่เวหาได้ ด้วยข่ายศรอันต่อเนื่องไม่ขาด ที่ปล่อยจากสายธนูของข้าพเจ้า จนไม่เหลือช่องให้เคลื่อนไหว
Lakshmana! no beings will be able to move in the sky, blocked by arrows released from my bow-string there will be no space left there.
The verse underscores that power must be ethically governed: the ability to immobilize “all beings” shows why dharma requires discrimination—punishing the guilty without trapping the innocent.
Rāma, in wrath, describes the totalizing force of his archery—an unbroken barrage that would fill the sky and halt movement.
