Sarga 6: The Sages’ Appeal and Instruction on Royal Duty
भवतामर्थसिद्ध्यर्थमागतोऽहं यदृच्छया।तस्य मेऽयं वने वासो भविष्यति महाफलः।।।।
bhavatām arthasiddhyartham āgato'haṃ yadṛcchayā | tasya me'yaṃ vane vāso bhaviṣyati mahāphalaḥ ||
ด้วยบุญวาสนา ข้าพเจ้ามาโดยบังเอิญเพื่อให้กิจของท่านทั้งหลายสำเร็จ; เพราะฉะนั้น การพำนักของข้าพเจ้าในป่านี้จักบังเกิดผลอันยิ่งใหญ่
I came here to acomplish your task incidentally, Therefore, my stay in the forest will yield great results.
Dharma is purposeful service: Rāma treats aiding the sages as the meaningful ‘fruit’ of his forest exile, aligning personal hardship with public good.
Rāma reassures the ascetics that his arrival supports their safety and the fulfilment of their needs.
Kṛtajñatā and resolve: he values the opportunity to do right as the true gain of his circumstances.
