Vasiṣṭha
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
Sandhi Resolution Notes: तुष्टोस्मि = तुष्टः अस्मि; वसिष्ठ उवाच (visarga sandhi in recitation).
The speaker is the sage Vasiṣṭha. The verse reads like a guru or elder praising a listener (a dharma-knower) for exemplary conduct—humility, restraint, and truth.
Praśraya (humble reverence), dama (self-restraint), and satya (truthfulness) are presented as core virtues that win the approval of the wise.
The verse teaches that moral authority and spiritual progress are supported by everyday discipline: respectful humility, control of senses and impulses, and commitment to truth.
