Narratorial voice (Purāṇic narrator continuing a genealogical account; specific dialogue-pair not explicit in this single verse)

Concept: Lineage and rightful relationships (wife, daughter-in-law) are presented as stabilizing nodes in cosmic society; renown (yaśas) is tied to dharmic placement and virtue.

Application: Honor family responsibilities with dignity; see relationships as opportunities for steadiness, service, and reputation built through virtue rather than display.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

This verse identifies Yaśodā as a renowned, mind-born (mānasī) daughter within a genealogical narration, and states her marital and family relations: she is the wife of Yāṃśumat and the daughter-in-law of Pañcajana.

Mānasī kanyā means a “mind-born daughter,” i.e., one said to be produced mentally rather than through physical birth—common Purāṇic language for extraordinary origins in early creation-era genealogies.

The verse primarily serves a genealogical function—preserving lineage memory and social relations (wife/daughter-in-law). Its broader theme is the Purāṇic emphasis on continuity of dharmic family lines within creation narratives.
