vaiśaṃpāyana uvāca | śruto graheśvarasyaiṣa prabhāvastvatprasādataḥ | ravyādīnāṃ grahāṇāṃ ca sādhanaṃ no vada dvija
Vaiśaṃpāyana
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Sandhi Resolution Notes:
The speaker is Vaiśaṃpāyana. He requests instruction on the “sādhana” (means/observances/remedies) connected with the planets, starting with the Sun (Ravi).
“Graheśvara” means “lord of the planets,” indicating a presiding authority or supreme regulator over planetary influences whose greatness has been described earlier.
The verse models humility and discipleship: having heard doctrine “by your grace,” the listener asks for practical guidance—showing that knowledge should lead to disciplined practice and responsible action.
