Hari (Viṣṇu)

Concept: Astonishment arises when merit and good conduct mature into extraordinary outcomes; dharma has intelligible causality under divine governance.

Application: Treat ethical living as spiritual practice; when unexpected grace appears, attribute it to accumulated merit and continue steady conduct rather than pride.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Hari appears as a compassionate revealer, speaking to a questioning brāhmaṇa with a calm, instructive gaze. FAQs

It teaches that extraordinary outcomes (and the astonishment they provoke) are rooted in great merit (puṇya) and sustained righteous conduct (sadācāra), and that wise sustainers of beings can discern this causal basis.

By placing moral causality at the center—puṇya gained through sadācāra—the verse aligns devotion to Hari with ethical living, implying that spiritual progress and auspicious results are supported by disciplined virtue.

Do not treat auspicious or unusual events as random; cultivate steady good conduct and virtue, because these are presented as the underlying causes recognized by the wise.
