Unknown (context not provided; likely within a Pulastya–Bhīṣma dialogue typical of Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa)

Concept: A jñānī characterized by non-possessiveness (nirmama) and non-hoarding (niḥparigraha) is worthy of honor; a Brahmā-guarded vow serves mokṣa by cutting saṃsāra-bondage.

Application: Practice voluntary simplicity: reduce acquisitions, avoid possessive speech (‘mine’), and honor wise teachers; keep personal disciplines steady and not for display.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A calm, radiant jñānī sits on kusa grass beneath an ancient banyan, palms open in a gesture of non-grasping. A small group of householders approaches with folded hands, offering simple flowers rather than wealth, while a subtle, luminous Brahmā-symbol (lotus and Veda) hovers above, signifying the ‘secret’ vow guarded by sacred lineage.","primary_figures":["a jñānī (sage)","householder devotees","symbolic Brahmā presence (lotus/Veda motif)"],"setting":"Forest hermitage edge with a simple altar, water pot, and a quiet path representing saṃsāra’s crossing.","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["earth brown","leaf green","saffron ochre","smoke gray","soft gold"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central sage with serene face and minimal ornaments, gold leaf aura, devotees offering flowers and a small water pot, a stylized lotus-Veda emblem above indicating Brahmā’s guarded vow, rich maroon background, intricate border patterns, traditional iconographic stillness.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: delicate forest scene with banyan leaves, cool greens and pale gold dawn, refined figures of householders in gentle poses, the sage’s open palms emphasized, a faint lotus-Veda motif in the sky, lyrical naturalism and soft shading.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, sage seated in yogic posture with large expressive eyes, devotees in rhythmic arrangement, flat color fields of red/yellow/green, lotus-Veda emblem rendered as a stylized mandala above, temple-wall aesthetic.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: ornate floral borders and lotus motifs framing a central sage, devotees arranged symmetrically, deep blue ground with gold highlights, symbolic chains (saṃsāra-bandha) painted faintly at the bottom dissolving into lotus patterns near the sage."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"reverent-soft","sound_elements":["tanpura drone","forest birds","gentle wind","soft bell (single strikes)"]}

FAQs

It praises the jñānī (wise person) as worthy of honor specifically because they are non-possessive (nirmama) and practice non-hoarding (niḥ-parigraha), pointing to inner renunciation rather than mere ritual status.

The verse states that the vrata is undertaken for saṃsāra-bandha-mokṣa—release from the bondage of worldly existence—framing the observance as liberation-oriented.

The phrase suggests the vow is an esoteric or specially guarded teaching attributed to Brahmā, highlighting its sanctity and the need for disciplined transmission rather than casual disclosure.
