FAQs

Indirā, a name of Lakṣmī, is speaking to Hari (Viṣṇu), urging him to accept her for the protection of the world.

It presents Lakṣmī as the ever-abiding divine presence—prosperity, auspiciousness, and sustaining grace—that does not abandon Viṣṇu or the cosmic order when dharma is upheld.

The verse highlights steadfast commitment (pratijñā) and the protective responsibility of divine power: Lakṣmī’s insistence and Viṣṇu’s promised acceptance underscore reliability, guardianship, and devotion oriented toward the welfare of the world.
