Concept: Purity and merit are inseparable from sustaining life: Earth purifies, grants puṇya, and supports all moving and unmoving beings as their womb.

Application: Honor food as sacred (anna-satkara), avoid waste, practice non-violence toward creatures and habitats, and engage in acts that ‘sprout’ welfare—education, nourishment, and care.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: karuna

FAQs

The verse praises a feminine principle identified by her functions—purifying, granting merit, making crops grow, and being the support and source of all beings—most naturally read as Bhūmi/Pr̥thivī (Earth) in the Bhūmi-khaṇḍa context.

“Carācara” means “moving and unmoving,” i.e., all living creatures and all stationary entities. It emphasizes a total cosmological scope: Earth (or the praised principle) supports the entire manifested world.

By portraying Earth as purifier, merit-giver, and universal support, the verse implies reverence and responsible conduct toward the natural world—seeing it as sacred and foundational to dharma and life.
