Glory of Prayaga and the Magha Bath at Triveni
vāsudevaṃ hariṃ kṛṣṇaṃ mādhavaṃ ca smaretpunaḥ | taptena vāriṇā snānaṃ yadgṛhe kriyate naraiḥ || 15 ||
Narada (as the instructive voice within the tirtha-mahātmya/ritual guidance section)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches that even an ordinary act like bathing at home becomes spiritually potent when accompanied by smaraṇa—recollection of Vishnu through His names (Vāsudeva, Hari, Kṛṣṇa, Mādhava).
Bhakti is shown as practical and continuous: remembering the Lord repeatedly (punaḥ smaret) during daily routines, not only in temples or pilgrimages, integrates devotion into nitya-karma.
It reflects kalpa/ācāra (ritual procedure) principles: purity acts like snāna are enhanced by mantra-like name-remembrance, aligning external cleansing with inner devotional recollection.
