Kārtika-Māhātmya
The Greatness of Kārtika
rukmāṃgada uvāca | māhātmyamabhidhāsyāmi māsasyāsya varānane | yena bhaktirbhavitrī te prakartuṃ haripūjanam || 44 ||
Rukmāṅgada
Vrata: Kārttika (month observance)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It frames the māsa-māhātmya as a devotional catalyst: hearing the month’s sacred glory is presented as a means to awaken bhakti and properly commence Hari (Viṣṇu) worship.
Bhakti is shown as something that can be cultivated through śravaṇa (listening) to sacred narratives and praises (māhātmya), which then matures into active practice—Hari-pūjana.
Ritual practice (kalpa-oriented conduct) is implied: the verse points to structured worship and vrata-style observance tied to a specific month, though it does not detail technical Vedāṅga rules in this line.
