Narada (addressing a king)
Vrata: none (etad-vrata)
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It prescribes a specific Śrāvaṇa-month Dvitīyā vrata and declares its fruit as freedom from the suffering tied to saṃsāra—birth, death, and the decline of old age—thereby framing vrata as a means toward liberation-oriented merit.
By urging the devotee to “undertake” (grāhyam) a holy observance at an auspicious tithi, it points to disciplined devotional practice—regular vrata-anuṣṭhāna—as a concrete expression of bhakti that purifies and loosens attachment to saṃsāric fear.
It highlights calendrical ritual timing through tithi-observance (Dvitīyā in Śrāvaṇa), aligning practice with traditional jyotiṣa-based lunar reckoning used to schedule vrata and other dharmic rites.
