Bhakti-Śraddhā-Ācāra-Māhātmya and the Commencement of the Mārkaṇḍeya Narrative

Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It identifies Viṣṇu as the supreme, eternal Light and the ultimate cause—both the universe’s form and its maker—pointing to one highest reality behind all divine functions.
By presenting Viṣṇu as Devadeva and the inner essence of all cosmic powers (including Śiva and Brahmā), it supports single-pointed devotion where worship of Viṣṇu is understood as worship of the Supreme itself.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; its practical takeaway is theological clarity for mantra-japa and pūjā—fixing the iṣṭa-devatā as Viṣṇu, the supreme jyotiḥ and jagat-kāraṇa.
