आजं वेश्यस्य विज्ञेयं दंडान्वक्ष्ये यथाक्रमम् । पालाशं ब्राह्मणस्योक्तं नृपस्यौदुम्बरं तथा ॥ १८ ॥
ājaṃ veśyasya vijñeyaṃ daṃḍānvakṣye yathākramam | pālāśaṃ brāhmaṇasyoktaṃ nṛpasyaudumbaraṃ tathā || 18 ||
พึงรู้ว่าไม้เท้า (ทัณฑะ) ของไวศยะทำด้วยไม้อชะ. ข้าพเจ้าจะกล่าวไม้เท้าตามลำดับ: ของพราหมณ์กล่าวว่าเป็นไม้ปาลาศะ และของพระราชา (กษัตริย์) เป็นไม้อุทุมพรเช่นกันตามบัญญัติ।
