Vāmana’s Advent, Aditi’s Hymn, Bali’s Gift, and the Mahatmya of Bhū-dāna
śrībhagavānuvāca | prīto'smi devi bhadraṃ te bhaviṣyāmi suto hyaham | yataḥ sapatniputreṣu vātsalyaṃ devi durlabham || 46 ||
Shri Bhagavan (the Lord)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It highlights Bhagavan’s grace: being pleased with devotion and virtue, the Lord personally accepts a relationship with the devotee (becoming her son), showing that divine compassion responds to sincere bhakti and goodwill.
Bhakti is shown as relational and transformative—when the Goddess’s disposition is noble (free from rivalry and harshness), Bhagavan is “pleased” and grants an intimate boon, indicating that purity of heart and affectionate conduct support devotional attainment.
No specific Vedanga (like Vyakarana, Jyotisha, or Kalpa) is taught directly; the practical takeaway is dharmic conduct in family life—cultivating vātsalya (tender affection) even where jealousy is common.
