गतगम्यांतराभ्यस्तं विभजेत्तत्त्वलोचनैः । तदवाप्तफलं योज्यं ज्यापिंडे गतसंज्ञके ॥ ९७ ॥

gatagamyāṃtarābhyastaṃ vibhajettattvalocanaiḥ | tadavāptaphalaṃ yojyaṃ jyāpiṃḍe gatasaṃjñake || 97 ||

ให้นำช่วงต่างระหว่าง ‘คตะ’ (ที่ไปแล้ว) กับ ‘คัมยา’ (ที่จะไป) ซึ่งฝึกซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่า มาวิเคราะห์และหารโดยผู้เห็นหลักการชัดเจน แล้วนำผลที่ได้ไปบวกเข้ากับชยา-ปินฑะที่เรียกว่า ‘คตะ’
