कन्योवाच तपस्वी यदि मे तातस् तत् किमृक्षमिदं दिवि ।

समारोप्य विवाहो मे तदृक्षे क्रियते न तु ॥

kanyovāca tapasvī yadi me tātas tat kim ṛkṣam idaṃ divi | samāropya vivāho me tadṛkṣe kriyate na tu ||

หญิงสาวกล่าวว่า “ท่านพ่อ หากเขาเป็นนักบำเพ็ญตบะจริง แล้วดาวฤกษ์ (ฤกษะ) ที่ปรากฏบนฟ้านี้คืออะไร? โปรดยกมันขึ้นไป (เปลี่ยนตำแหน่ง) เพื่อให้พิธีสมรสของข้าจัดขึ้นภายใต้ดาวนั้น”
