Adhyaya 75 — Slaying of Mahishasura
इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणेऽथ तामसमन्वन्तरे चतुःसप्ततितमोऽध्यायः ।
पञ्चसप्ततितमोऽध्यायः—
मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
पञ्चमोऽपि मनुर्ब्रह्मन् रैवतो नाम विश्रुतः ।
तस्योत्पत्तिं विस्तरशः शृणुष्व कथयामि ते ॥
iti śrīmārkaṇḍeyapurāṇe 'tha tāmasa-manvantare catuḥ-saptatitamo 'dhyāyaḥ | pañca-saptatitamo 'dhyāyaḥ— mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | pañcamo 'pi manur brahman raivato nāma viśrutaḥ | tasyotpattiṃ vistaraśaḥ śṛṇuṣva kathayāmi te ||
ณ ที่นี้ บทที่เจ็ดสิบสี่ในศรีมารกัณฑेयปุราณะ ภาคทามสมนวันตระ ได้สิ้นสุดลง บัดนี้เริ่มบทที่เจ็ดสิบห้า มารกัณฑेयกล่าวว่า “ดูก่อนพราหมณ์ มนุองค์ที่ห้าเป็นที่เลื่องลือด้วยนามว่า ไรวตะ จงฟังกำเนิดของท่านโดยพิสดาร เราจักกล่าวแก่ท่าน”.
