Arjuna–Duryodhana Engagement and Admonition

Karṇa uvāca: Bravīṣi vācā yat Pārtha, karmaṇā tat samācara. Atigaśete hi te vākyaṁ, karmatattvaṁ prathitaṁ bhuvi.

Educational Q&A

The verse contrasts speech with action: true valor and integrity are proven by deeds, not by bold claims. It implicitly upholds a kṣatriya ethic where reputation must be matched by performance, and empty boasting is censured.

In the Virāṭa episode’s martial confrontation, Karna responds to Arjuna’s challenge by taunting him: he urges Arjuna to convert his words into action and claims that Arjuna’s talk exceeds his actual deeds—an attempt to provoke and psychologically unsettle his opponent before combat.
