Śamī-vṛkṣe śastra-nidhāna and Entry into Virāṭa’s Capital (शमीवृक्षे शस्त्रनिधानम्)
अर्जुनने कहा--राजन्! श्मशानभूमिके समीप एक टीलेपर यह शमीका बहुत बड़ा सघन वृक्ष है। इसकी शाखाएँ बड़ी भयानक हैं, इससे इसपर चढ़ना कठिन है
arjuna uvāca—rājan! śmaśānabhūmeḥ samīpe ekasmin ṭīle eṣā śamī bahu-vṛhatī gāḍha-vṛkṣaḥ. asyāḥ śākhāḥ ati-bhayānakāḥ; ataḥ asmin ārohaṇaṃ duṣkaram.
อรชุนกล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่พระราชา ใกล้ป่าช้านั้น บนเนินดิน มีต้นชมีต้นนี้ตั้งอยู่ ใหญ่ยิ่งและทึบแน่น กิ่งก้านน่าเกรงขามนัก ฉะนั้นจึงปีนขึ้นได้ยาก”
