Uttara’s Panic and Bṛhannadā’s Stabilizing Counsel
evam uktaḥ sa sairandhryā bhaginīṃ pratyabhāṣata | gaccha tvam anavadyājñi tām ānaya bṛhannalām ||
The verse highlights respectful, ethically framed speech in command: Uttara addresses his sister with honorific praise (“blameless, discerning”), indicating that authority should be exercised with courtesy and trust rather than harshness.
After Sairandhrī speaks, Uttara responds by instructing his sister Uttarā to go and summon Bṛhannalā. This sets up the next action in the Virāṭa court, where Bṛhannalā’s assistance is sought.
