Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how deep concern for a loved one’s suffering can eclipse personal comfort; it implicitly commends empathy and familial responsibility over self-indulgence, aligning emotional restraint and care with dharmic conduct.

A speaker (as reported by Vaiśampāyana) voices distress to Bhīma: repeatedly dwelling on Sahadeva’s plight, she cannot sleep, and therefore finds no joy—showing the household’s tension and emotional stakes around Sahadeva’s condition in the Virāṭa-parvan setting.
