सहदेव उवाच
Competence in one’s assigned duty is a form of dharma: Sahadeva presents mastery—knowledge of past, present, and future signs, and precise reckoning of cattle—as the ethical basis for reliable service and responsible stewardship.
In the Virata Parva context, Sahadeva is asserting his exceptional expertise relevant to cattle and prognostic knowledge, emphasizing that within ten yojanas around him nothing concerning the herd is unknown—establishing his credibility for the role he is undertaking while the Pandavas remain incognito.
