Mārīcastvatha sambhrānto dṛṣṭvā Rāvaṇam āgatam | pūjayāmāsa satkāraiḥ phalamūlādibhis tataḥ ||

มารกัณฑेयกล่าวว่า— ครั้นมาริจะเห็นทศกัณฐ์มาถึงก็สะดุ้งลุกขึ้นทันที แล้วต้อนรับด้วยเกียรติยศตามธรรมเนียมแขกผู้มาเยือน ถวายผลไม้ รากไม้ และสิ่งอันควรแก่การอุปถัมภ์.
