Kaurava Court Hears of the Pāṇḍavas’ Forest Hardship (वैचित्रवीर्यवंशीयस्य राज्ञः करुणाविचारः)

उनका हृदय कामाग्निसे संतप्त हो रहा था। वे उन ब्रह्मर्षियोंकी पत्नियोंके न मिलनेसे अपने शरीरको त्याग देनेका निश्चय कर चुके थे। अतः वनमें चले गये ।। स्वाहा त॑ दक्षदुहिता प्रथमं कामयत्‌ तदा । सा तस्य छिद्रमन्वैच्छच्चिरात्प्रभूति भाविनी,प्रजापति दक्षकी पुत्री स्वाहा पहलेसे ही अग्निदिवको अपना पति बनाना चाहती थी और इसके लिये बहुत दिनोंसे वह अग्निका छिढद्र ढूँढ़ रही थी

svāhā tu dakṣaduhitā prathamaṁ kāmayat tadā | sā tasya chidram anvaiṣac cirāt prabhṛti bhāvinī ||

มารกัณฑेयกล่าวว่า: สวาหา ธิดาของประชาบดีทักษะ ปรารถนาให้อัคนีเป็นสามีมาตั้งแต่แรก ครั้นแต่นั้นนางผู้มุ่งมั่นก็เฝ้าสืบหา “ช่องโหว่”—โอกาสใดสักอย่าง—ในตัวเขามาเนิ่นนาน
